Last "FOURTH SUNDAY" Program is January 22, 2006
INTRODUCTION to BUDDHISM
Event will be rescheduled in rest of 2006...
The Buddhist Education Committee will present its one-hour Introduction to Buddhism class on
January 22, 2006, at 9 a.m. in the one-story Sangha Hall.
Long called the "Fourth Sunday" program because it was scheduled for the fourth Sunday of the month,
the program will continue at a monthly time to be announced shortly.
The program consists of a simple opening service, a brief overview of the teachings of Buddha, the Pure
Land School, and the everyday Buddhism of the Jodo Shinshu tradition. The one-hour session also
covers the etiquette used at our Temple and concludes with a Q&A.
Following the class, participants are invited to attend the Family Service at 10 a.m. to hear Rev. Mukojima
窶冱 Dharma message. After the service, a tour of the Temple will be given to those interested.
Frequently include college students studying world religions, interested members of the community, and
current temple members..
The BEC also invites new and prospective members to the introductory class at any time. In the past,
new members were expected to learn Temple etiquette and traditions on their own and through
observance, but the Fourth Sunday program can provide background and presents an opportunity for
new members to have some of their questions about the Temple answered.
We invite anyone with an interest in Buddhism or the Temple to attend one of the Fourth Sunday
introductions.
